Naidu Revives Operation Akarsh?

With elections to Andhra Pradesh assembly and Lok Sabha hardly three months away, Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu appears to have revived his “Operation Akarsh” to attract senior party leaders from the rival parties to destabilize them.

The decision of senior YSR Congress party leader Ghattamaneni Adiseshagiri Rao to resign from the party is said to be part of Naidu’s latest strategy.Ghattamaneni, brother of yesteryears superstar Krishna, had been an ardent follower of late chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and an active leader of the YSR Congress party. For some strange reasons, Ghattamaneni quit the YSRC on Monday. He is likely to shift his loyalties to the TDP and it is learnt Naidu had promised him party ticket in Lok Sabha.

Similarly, senior BJP leader and official spokesman Chinnam Ramakotaiah, who had been in forefront in attacking the TDP in the television debates, suddenly took a U-turn on Monday and resigned from the BJP, expressing unhappiness over the BJP-led NDA Government’s ill treatment towards Andhra Pradesh.

A senior RSS leader, Ramakotaiah had been fighting for Railway Zone with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters for the past several years. He said he had met Chandrababu Naidu and the latter had entrusted him with the responsibility of solving temple archaka issues.“He asked me to prepare a document helping the temple archakas,” he said.
