Jagan to sack 90% ministers after two-and-a-half years!

It is good news for some and bad news for others in the YSR Congress legislature party.

Party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who created a sensation of sorts by announcing that he would appoint five deputy chief ministers in his cabinet to be formed on Saturday, also revealed a shocking news to the cabinet berth aspirants among the MLAs.

While announcing that he will form a full-fledged cabinet by inducting 25 ministers including five ministers, Jagan also declared that 90 per cent of the ministers who would be swearing in on Saturday would be sacked after two and a half years.

“There is going to be cabinet reshuffle exactly after two and a half years and 90 per cent of the present ministers will have to quit then, paving way for new ministers. This is to ensure that all the deserving MLAs will get a chance to be part of the government. I don’t want to cause discontent in any deserving MLA just because I won’t be give him or the cabinet berth,” he said.

Jagan also gave a hint that half of the cabinet would comprise SCs, STs, BCs and minorities, thereby indicating that he wants to get rid of the general perception among the people that his cabinet will be dominated by Reddy community, which constitutes one-third of the MLAs.

Jagan’s decision will be definitely a good news for those who will not be making it to the cabinet on Saturday, but it is certainly a bad news for those who will be taking charge as ministers.

Naturally, any minister does not to give up cabinet post just like that and when he knows that he will not be there in the cabinet after two and a half years, he will concentrate more on making as much money as possible during his tenure rather on the implementation of development and welfare programmes.

It will also lead to chaos in administration as each minister will have his own style of functioning and priorities.

Let us see whether Jagan will have complete control over his cabinet ministers in the long run!
