Gouru couple to quit YSRC, join TDP?

YSR Congress party MLA Gouru Charita Reddy, one of the die-hard loyalists of party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, is likely to resign from the party along with her husband Gouru Venkat Reddy soon, according to the reports doing rounds in political circles.

Charitha is said to be disappointed after she was informed that she would not be given the party ticket to contest against from Panyam in Kurnool district.

She has called for a meeting of her followers in a day or two to decide her future course of action.

Sources said Charitha and Venkat Reddy would join the Telugu Desam Party in the first week of March.

Troubles began for Charita with the admission of senior leader from Rayalaseema Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, who resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party in April last.

Even before he formally joined the YSRC, he declared that he had got assurance from YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy that he would be fielded from Panyam assembly constituency in the next assembly elections in 2019. Yet, Charitha did not take any decision but continued in the party.

Charita said Rambhupal Reddy was very much welcome into the party and she hoped his entry would strengthen the party in Kurnool district.

She has been telling the people that she was going to contest the next elections from Panyam.

“There is nobody who is more loyal to the party than me in Kurnool district. Though six MLAs had defected from YSRC to the Telugu Desam Party in the last four years, I remained loyal to the YSRC and have been struggling to strengthen the party at all levels. So, I have all the confidence that I would get the party ticket for Panyam seat in the next assembly elections,” she said.

But after coming to know that Jagan is preferring Katasani, Charita is hurt. So, she is said to be trying to look for future course of action, sources said.
